Although I like to write, I reckon there’s no worse task than writing about oneself – I’ll keep it short!
My passion for travel and adventure was born after spending some time volunteering in Cameroon when I was 19 years old. Previous to that I had always looked forward to holidays with family and friends, but (hopefully without sounding too spoiled!) to a large extent that was exactly what they were – holidays. I like to compare my arrival in Cameroon to the notion of a first-time scuba-diver exploring the galapagos. There was so much going on that I hadn’t seen before I didn’t know where to look, and asked question after question. I was hooked.
During my final year at university after reading countless blog posts about other people’s adventures, I hatched a plan to cycle as far as I could East-ish from my hometown in Ireland. I ended up in Belgrade, Serbia. You can read about it here.
So, what now? I’m currently living in Johannesburg, and although I’ve found myself in a full time job, I’m hoping to go on plenty of weekend adventures, such as my recent trip to the Pilanesburg National Park.
Along with swathes of other travellers, I’ve developed an interest in documenting my trips through writing and photography, and I’m learning the ropes of videography which I hope to employ at some stage in the near future. My blog should hopefully play host to all of this – I hope somebody somewhere will find it interesting.
Phew! If you have any other questions, feel free to get in touch.
